05/23/2010 LOST Ends Tonight: Here Are Some Cool LOST iPhone Apps, by The App Era

After six years of grueling head scratching and WTF-Bobbleheads, LOST is finally coming to an end. It’s a bittersweet day for most fans. We knew the end was coming but it’s still sad. Here are some LOST related apps: Though not specifically tailored for Lost’s magic numbers: 4 8 15 16 23 42, you can program the app to do so anyway! What do you do? Well you just comeback to the app every 180 minutes and punch in the code OR ELSE! Someone actually thought tying a game to show would be genius and BOY IT IS! Check out Blazing Lizzard’s iSkyDive ($1.99)! iSkyDive! received a update adding a new island titled Mystery Island. But after reading the update description, and seeing our favorite lost landmarks (the plane, statue, radio tower, the famous beach), it’s no doubt this is THE Lost island. The map includes most Lost landmarks, such as the hatch, the foot of the statue, radio tower, tail and front of the plane, volcano, and camp. The missions are also sorta funny if you’ve watched the show, for example in one of them you have to dive bomb the hatch (boom?). iSkyDive! is a fun game, if you’re a Lost fan you might want to pick it up just for kicks. Just be careful, cause as you well know parachutes + the island could = you hanging from a tree . Every Lost fan must and should have this cool little neat app from Conniption Entertainment.  Videos, theories, news and what have you. I am Jacob, and I am telling you, THIS WILL COMPLETE YOU! Jack Shephard, Kate Austen, James Ford, John Locke… goodbye guys! See you on the other side. You’ll hear me on my Twitter obsess about the show tonight Read More

02/05/2010 Sir Revs-A-Lot Is FREE Through OpenFeint: Cool Game!, by The App Era

February 4th, 2010 James Isabel Since everyone’s doing a FREE promotion thing, why can’t everyone? For today (and we almost forgot to tell you), OpenFeint and SmallRock has dropped the cool casual and OpenFeint enabled game (doh) Aliens have attacked but they’re no match for your sweet ride! Laugh at their measly bombs as you destroy them, and anything else that gets in your way, with nothing more than your trusty car, Sir Revs-a-Lot. Unfortunately Sir Revs-a-Lot has one small problem: an empty gas tank sets off a cataclysmic chain reaction, ending in the total destruction of Sir Revs and its driver! The solution: stay in the air where you can idle, thereby using less fuel. Thoughts There are two game modes: quick and marathon game. Quick game starts with the car already on air and once it hits the ground, game over. Marathon game starts with the car on the road, and it’s your job to keep hitting objects like saucers and planes and their ammos to bring your score up. Control is touch left and right edges of the screen, the longer you hold the higher the car gets thrown off. The game is OpenFeint connected through leaderboards and achievements, so that’s a plus. I seriously don’t understand why the game is 3.5 star rated. This is probably at least a 4. I just wish the menu navigation screens should be fixed somehow since they feel too blank at the moment. You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site. Read More

02/04/2010 Today Only: Download FluxTunes And Sir Revs-A-Lot For Free, by Apple iPhone Apps

Today is the first day FreeAppADay.com is featuring a non-game, but all of you iPhone and iPod touch gamers don’t need to worry because OpenFeint has a free app available today as well and, as always, it is game. FluxTunes ($.99 -> Free): If you have ever had troubles idevice’s music player while driving, jogging, biking or during any other activity because you didn’t want to take your eyes off of what is most important, then FluxTunes is the app for your.  It allows you to control a variety of music playing functions, such as changing a track, playlist, or volume, with single or multi-finger gestures.  It’s simple and easy to use, and it could be a lifesaver. ($.99 -> Free): A sort of sideways casual jumping game.  Sir Revs-A-Lot features two gameplay modes, Quick Play and Marathon Play.  Quick Play requires you to bounce your car off of all of the enemies in an attempt to never touch the ground, because if you do, the game is over.  I know, it’s a car, cars should be on the ground, but just go with it.  Marathon Play is more of the same, except you can touch the ground as long as you have fuel.  Your fuel depletes while you are on the ground, however, so if you run out, the game is over. Sir Revs-A-Lot features on-screen controls, power-ups, and OpenFeint integration. Both apps are available for free today and today only (2/4/10). Read More
