Dayta ($1.99) is a powerful, design-y data tracker for your iPhone. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and have found it surprisingly feature complete for a v1.0 application. In fact, the only real problem has been finding ways to use the app in the Dayta day (so to speak). Fill ‘er up From the very first moment you load Dayta up, it’ll be up to you to figure out exactly what to use it for. The whole app is organized around tracking and displaying statistics over a given period of time. You can assign each data set (e.g. My Weight) its own icon and unit type, and you can even sort all of your data sets by folder (Folder name: Why I can’t lose weight; Data sets: donut intake, poutine intake, etc.). Once you’ve established a given data set you can add your data by using a numpad or a set of Plus and Minus buttons. By default, Dayta considers each input separately, and this has worked perfectly for helping me track my weight. I enter my weight once, at the start of the day, and leave the app alone until the next morning. I’ve set a goal within my Weight dataset and Dayta has done a great job of helping me track my progress, especially with its handy one-tap graphing capability. Extra Tracking Features The default settings are ideal for tracking things like weight, but Dayta also includes a few extra features for those who would like a little more tracking flexibility. If you’re tracking a daily budget, then you can instruct Dayta to “consolidate by day”, so that each time you enter a purchase, it affects your total budget (you won’t be able to name specific expenditures, though). However, if you’re tracking something like the number of coffees you drink in a given day, you can have Dayta “consolidate by day” and “reset to zero daily”, so that you can create a daily account of your caffeine intake, instead of a  growing tally of coffees (which would be a lot less useful). Conclusion Dayta is a very functional app as it stands, but I find that it’s almost too open in its design. E’ molto intruitivo e ben fatto, oltre ad essere dotato di un’interfaccia grafica estremamente semplice che non confonderà l’utente nelle varie operazioni. Appena avvieremo il client infatti, ci apparirà una schermata con varie etichette ed icone. Potremo quindi accedere velocemente all’intera Timeline, alle Menzioni, ai Messaggi Diretti oppure ai preferiti. Cliccando sulla TimeLine visualizzeremo tutti i messaggi postati dalle persone che “seguiamo” su Twitter, Nelle menzioni troveremo tutte le @Reply che abbiamo ricevuto ed infine ci saranno tutti i messaggi privati. Cliccando su “Il mio profilo” potremo visualizzare i nostri ultimi tweet effettuati, le mentiones, il numero di utenti che ci seguono o quelli che noi seguiamo. Infine tramite “Vedere User” possiamo cercare un nick name per leggere tutte le cose che ha scritto su Twitter. Anche la schermata di composizione di un nuovo messaggio è molto semplice. L’applicazione, denominata , ha lo scopo di segnare tutte le azioni fatte o da fare nel corso della giornata e dei prossimi giorni. Lo sviluppatore è al corrente che su AppStore ci sono già applicazioni del genere ma non come Dayta, afferma, unica per la gestione di qualsiasi cosa. It sounds like the premise for a new reality show -- a developer writes an iPhone app in one week while the world watches. That's exactly what Sahil Lavingia is planning to do starting on Sunday, February 7th. Lavingia is the developer behind Color Stream and the Twizzle Twitter client [iTunes Links], and he'll be posting updates to keep us all apprised of his progress at his One Week App blog. On the blog, Lavingia will be posting screenshots of his coding, timelapse movies (sorry, no streaming video of Lavingia at work), and other notes about his work as he moves forward. Lavingia is a realist -- he knows that he could create an amazing new app, or he could fail to finish his work in the allotted time. We don't know what he's planning on coding, either. Perhaps it will be a game, maybe a design tool, or something else altogether.
