Moto X Mayhem [iTunes link] was developed by Occamy Games and is an exciting 2D Dirt Bike side-scrolling game that brings a fun concept through simplicity. The concept of the game is really simple. You control a BMX Biker and must get through 4 treacherous campaigns in the quickest time possible. To control your Bike, you must accurately Throttle, Break, Leaning Forwards or Backwards to continue your trek forward. The buttons for these controls will be on the left and right of the screen, or you can use the accelerometer for learning forward/backwards… To start you will need to use the throttle to move forward and will face natural obstacles such as steep inclines or huge jumps that require you to lean forward/backwards to land safely. As you progress you will be facing extreme drops, adrenaline-pumping jumps, vicious jungle vines and more, created only to make you crash and burn. Some areas are very difficult as you must adjust the throttle accordingly to land safely or must break immediately after landing a jump. This was a nice plus as it wasn’t all about holding down the throttle and getting to the finish line the fastest. What fun would a bike game be without crashes? The Developers ingeniously incorporated rag-doll physics for every crash. It was fun watching my biker make spine-wrenching and bone-crunching wrecks (Cracking and “Ouch!” sounds included!). Your biker will literally bend over backwards for you and create human pretzels for every possible angle. No joke, my Girlfriend actually cringed a few times while she was watching me play. But for those with weak stomachs, don’t worry there’s no blood! The game’s design is spot on. The graphics, yet simple, present colorful landscapes and with birds chirping in the background actually made me feel like I was alone on my own. Your bike will bounce around realistically and make great dirt bike sounds as you throttle up or down just adding more value to this excellent game. This game was really simple and super addictive. Moto X Mayhem is another one of those physics games that require you to keep your character balanced as you traverse a ridiculously hilly terrain. Games like these are all over the place and as such I was a little bit skeptical going into the review process. The game features all the standard elements that one would expect from a physics game: rag doll physics, crazy hills, and awkward control over turns. It puts the player in control of a motorbike enthusiast who traverses the hills as fast as possible. The thing that I did notice about this game is the amount of detail that went into the character and his bike. He definitely reacts and so does the bike to the intensity of the landing or the inevitable crash that is going to happen. That is one ting that stuck out over the rest of these games. It was still plagued with sluggish movement, but I've learned to expect that from physics games. Perhaps the most disappointing part of this game is that it only has 7 levels. This means in order to play the game, you can only pick from seven short levels to ride through thus killing the replay value of this app. Luckily enough, the price has been reduced and the developers promise to add more content in the future. Overall, it's a fun little game but it doesn't have enough features or content to keep me even the slightest bit interested. If you like physics games, this is one of the better ones.
