12/05/2011 Free Today: Shift 2, Zentomino, and More, by Slide to Play

Did you know that if you're patient and pay attention to our GameFinder app, you can find all kinds of great iOS games marked down to free? Here are some of today's best temporarily deals-- download them for free while you can! Shift 2 Unleashed EA's been pushing a Daily Deals promotion for December that led to The Sims Medieval being a free download yesterday. Today, it's Shift 2's turn. This white-knuckle, high-speed racer has incredible graphics and well-balanced vehicles, and if you're persistent, you won't have to pay any real-world money to upgrade your abilities. Our Score: 3 out of 4 Our Bottom Line: Need for Speed Shift 2 is a sequel that improves on the original, but not enough to make it a must buy. Zentomino Zentomino is a combination of tangram (assembly puzzles), pentominos (five-squared Tetris-like pieces), and good old Zen. To solve this relaxing but challenging game, you have to rotate and place Tetris-like pieces to fit a particular shape. There are hundreds of puzzles to solve in this collection, so be sure to download it for free if you have the mental skills. Our Score: 4 out of 4 Our Bottom Line: Zentomino is an extremely fun, laid-back puzzle game with enough content to keep you playing for a long time to come. Arcade Jumper Arcade Jumper is a simple game with a retro kick. You play as a kid with a blaster that looks like an NES Zapper, running, jumping, and shooting through retro-inspired backgrounds. When you reach the end of each stage, you can pick up an arcade token and try to make it back the way you came. We featured Arcade Jumper in a recent Under The Radar column, and now you can get it for free. Sad Princess When your boyfriend gets kidnapped, Princess, don't get sad-- get even. In this side-scrolling beat 'em up, you play as a small girl who can kick a lot of tail. Wolves, boars, and other beasts don't stand a chance against your giant club and special attacks, plus you can even tend for a companion pet who will help you out. Our Score: 2 out of 4 Our Bottom Line: You won't be happy if you download Sad Princess based solely on its looks. Line Birds Line Birds is a high-score, endless flying game where you can tap on the screen to make your bird Read More

09/04/2011 Line Birds: otro adictivo juego con p叩jaros como protagonistas, by EsferaiPhone

Precio: Gratis Read More

06/16/2011 GameTime: The Hardest Game of All Time, by Mac|Life

Posted 06/16/2011 at 11:40am | by Nic Vargus Some apps are just too easy. With only a screen to tap, they simplify their button layouts to mind-melting simplicity or just dumb any instance of genuine difficulty down to make it more casual. Not Line Runner. Line runner is the hardest game I've ever played on iOS. It seems content to present itself as a game that's cute and accessible, only to break your soul mere moments after starting. The background of Line Runner is the now familiar graph paper (made popular by games like Doodle Jump) and the clunky graphics imply the game is unchallenging.  Even Line Runner's gameplay sounds easy -  an invisible button on the left makes you roll, an invisible button on the right makes you jump. Small squares come flying toward you and you either have to jump over them or roll under them. So why's it so hard? Probably because the game moves at a million miles an hour. If you want to rack up a respectable score, you'll have to blur your vision so you can see the entire screen. The app developer calls this feature "Increasing difficulty from easy to bone breaking." We call shenanigans. This game is bone breaking from the start. Our high score was 618. If you beat that, upload a screenshot to the GameTime Flickr here. Pick up the game here for only $.99! 05/28/2011 RunStickRun!, by App Safari

RunStickRun! by Robert Szeleney is a running game for the iPhone that features a stick man performing incredible jumps and leaps while trying to stay on top of various floating platforms as he runs headlong through nine different tracks. A very simple game to play, RunStickRun! is by turns addicting and frustrating as you guide the little stick man towards victory. You may choose between nine different tracks to run on or Random to mix things up a bit. Tap on the screen to get started. In order to make your jumps, drag your finger in the direction of where you want the stick man to jump: short swipes for little jumps and longer swipes for higher jumps. The objective is to stay on the platforms for the duration of the run and avoid crashing to the ground. Slipping off the platform means instant death for the careless runner. But there is a way to save yourself if you do fall off: below the platform is a car following you on your run. If you’re quick enough, land on the car and it will carry you safely below the platforms. Don’t stay on the car for too long, though. The car will start to break down as you continue your ride until it eventually blows up–you’ll die anyway. If the platforms are going too fast for you to keep up with and you need a break, hop up onto the prop plane flying above you to safely soar over them. But like the car below you, eventually the plane will break down and you will find yourself crashing, so don’t stay on it too long. The graphics are relatively simple–a stick figure man, a plane, and a car with many, many platforms set against a graph paper background, making it easy on the eyes. Unfortunately, with such basic art, it was sometimes too easy to miss the next platform, leading to a needless death. The music is a screaming trance song that can be appealing to some and annoying to others. If it becomes too much for you, you can turn it off under Options. The game is easy to play while being pretty challenging at the same time. I died many times before I finally started correctly anticipating when I should jump and when I should simply hop. It’s pretty addictive as you leap from platform to platform, but with Read More

04/06/2011 Traffic Master Review, by 148 Apps

iPhone App FREE! Our Review By Phillip Levin on April 6th, 2011 Rating: :: SURPRISINGLY ENTERTAINING Are you ready to become a traffic master? Developer: Price: $0.99 Version Reviewed: 1.1 Device Reviewed On: iPhone Graphics / Sound Rating: Game Controls Rating: Gameplay Rating: Replay Value Rating: Overall Rating: A game in which you control traffic may not sound particularly entertaining, but you’d be surprised. Indeed, Traffic Master is a surprisingly fun little iOS title. The game takes place from a top-down perspective, looking at a highway intersection. Your task is to control the pace of traffic moving through the intersection and prevent any car accidents. Your only two control options are to tap a vehicle to stop it or swipe a vehicle to speed it up. Your goal, really, is to make sure all vehicles make it through the intersection without colliding with one another. This can be accomplished by stopping a car that may hit another or speeding up one that would otherwise collide with a crossing vehicle. The game features three different levels, each having its own difficulty level. The first level, Springfield, consists of an eight-lane intersection, and is labeled as “easy.” Meanwhile, Miami, which is considered “medium” difficulty and New York, which is “hard,” feature a sixteen-lane intersection with increasingly heavier traffic. If you fail to stop a collision, it’s game over. You can no longer interact with the traffic, and you’ll witness a pile-up of vehicles colliding with one another until the entire screen is filled with crashed cars, busses and motorcycles. The crash physics are a bit simplistic – smoke will rise out of crashed cars, but that’s about it, so don’t expect Burnout-esque crash physics here. The nice thing about Traffic Master is that it’s an easy game to pick up and play, even if you can only play for a couple of minutes. If you’re somewhere waiting for something to happen and want to kill a few minutes, then Traffic Master is a great option. What’s more, its simplistic concept makes it an easy game for anyone to grasp and enjoy. This is definitely casual gamer friendly. Traffic Master takes what might sound like a somewhat mundane task – controlling traffic – and turns it into a surprisingly fun and challenging game. This one’s worth checking out, and it’s only a dollar. Review disclosure: note that the product reviewed on this page may Read More

You have full control over your ropes, touch on a tower to throw your rope there, touch once again to release it and use your acceleration to fly through the sky. 11/06/2009 Of Interest: 'Fore', 'Rope Raider', and 'Virtual Villagers 3', by Touch Arcade

Here are a few recent releases that may be of interest to some of our readers. Fore by Cobra Mobile A top-down iPhone golfing game that comes with 54 holes across 3 different courses. The game was designed for touch/swipe controls. Driving the ball simply requires you to slide back and flick forward in the direction of the shot. Putting is also very simple by tapping and sliding in the direction of the hole. A video of the game in action is shown above. Further impressions and reactions can be found in the discussion thread Rope Raider While Rope'n'Fly [99¢ / Free] and Rope'n'Fly 2 [99¢ / Free] were definitely around first, Rope Raider brings a substantial amount of style and atmosphere with a much more detailed cityscape, sound effects, as well as the plump and barefoot Rope Raider character himself. Three different game modes are included: A free play mode where you see how far you can get, as well as two timed modes where you aim for either coins collected or overall distance before the time runs out. Rope Raider feels like a substantial improvement over Rope'n'Fly and is recommended for fans of swinging games. Further impressions and reactions can be found in the discussion thread. Virtual Villagers 3 Last Day of Work has brought the 3rd installment of Virtual Villagers to the iPhone. The previous installments have been well received by fans of these sort of "sim" games. The game carries forward the basics of gameplay in which you can manipulate the villager's activities by moving them around with your finger to perform specific tasks and aid in their advancement. Villagers can be tasked to do a number of chores, including gathering food, building shelter, performing research and more. Further impressions and reactions can be found in the discussion thread Thanks for your feedback everyone! I'm one of the developers for Clink from Mojo Forest, and I would like share with you guys more info about the game...
