Firemint and EA have launched Real Racing on the Mac App Store just in time for Christmas. And not only does the game offer up the same high definition racing fun of the popular iOS series, but there's another twist as well: You can use an iPhone or iPad to control the game on your Mac. That's pretty cool -- I presume that means you need a Real Racing app to do it, but there are a few free versions out, and the full versions are only a buck during the holidays anyway. Other than that, the Mac app doesn't sound too new, though there are still licensed cars, lots of tracks to play through a career mode, and of course you can use the power of your full Mac rather than just an iOS device. The Mac App Store version is $12.99 right now. And elsewhere in the world of controlling things and the Mac App Store, a company called Drone Apps has released a Mac app called Drone Station, that will let you control your Parrot AR.Drone quadricopter directly from your Mac instead of an iOS device. The software looks pretty barebones, but it has quite a few options, including the ability to get all of the incoming video from the drone, as well as control it directly with any number of game controllers you can hook up directly to the Mac. It's actually very impressive, and if you happen to have a Parrot AR.Drone (or find one under the tree this holiday), the app seems worth a try. It's on the Mac App Store for $9.99. Parrot has told us that it will be at CES again this year, and we look forward to seeing what other news they've got for the AR.Drone and its Apple-created interfaces. Read More

posted by Joe Rossignol on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 2:32 pm. Today only, Electronic Arts is offering two of their popular iOS titles for absolutely free. Flight Control, regularly 99 cents, is free today for the first time since its March 2009 release on the App Store. Flight Control, in the words of EA, is a game where you must touch and drag the aircraft to their landing zones and avoid collisions. There are six airfields including the Original, Beach, Windy, Australian Outback, Aircraft Carrier and the new Storm Airfield each with unique characteristics and challenges. Over 4,000,000 copies of Flight Control have been sold since its release over two-and-a-half years ago, making it one of the more successful titles available on the App Store. Similarly, Mirror’s Edge™ is also a regularly 99 cents game that has been discounted to free as part of EA’s daily deal for December 10th. Mirror’s Edge™ is a game where, again quoted from its developer, you must immerse yourself in the world of Faith Connors – an underground “Runner” who bolts into action to stop a deadly threat in a “perfect society” full of sinister surveillance and relentless pursuers. You can run up walls, slide down ramps, ride zip lines, and hurdle between rooftops as you burn through 14 levels of increasing intensity in single-player combat mode. Mirror’s Edge™ for iPad and Flight Control HD are also being offered for free today. Read More
Flight Control was one of the original runaway successes of the iOS gaming era, and when Electronic Arts released an iPad version, its sales went crazy overnight. Releases on just about every other platform, including the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, followed. If for some reason you are one of the few that doesn’t already own Flight Control and Flight Control HD, EA has put both games on sale as part of their EA Daily Deals promotion. We haven’t even told you the best part yet! When we said the games were on sale, what we actually meant was you can now pick both Flight Control and Flight Control HD up for absolutely nothing. Free. Gratis. Etc… Now you really do have no excuse for not being addicted to landing those little planes and helicopters, whether you prefer the iPhone or iPad version. There’s just something about drawing landing paths with your fingers that the Xbox and PS3 versions can’t quite compete with. Have at it people! Read More
Now here's something I was never expecting. As part of the EA Daily Deals program this holiday season, Flight Control [Free] and Flight Control HD [Free] have had their prices slashed to zero dollars. Flight Control is about as classic as games get for iOS. It not only has won a pile full of awards since it was released, it's single handedly responsible for popularizing the whole "line drawing" and "chaos management" family of games. Everyone needs to download it while it's free, which from the looks of it, is today only. App Store Links: Flight Control, $0.99 Flight Control HD, $4.99 (iPad Only) iTunes Link: Inspired by my son's mistrust of clowns (and who can blame him, really?), I gathered up a couple of talented friends and we made Sparky the Road Clown. I'm the developer, and we're excited to announce and release the game so that anyone and everyone can run over clowns at their leisure. Technically, you can also whack him with the big spinning mallet on top of the car, too, but that's just splitting hairs, really. Here's a 60 second trailer for the game: Basic gameplay is this -- you're trying to knock the clown into as many unique things as possible per game (that triggers the multiplier) and you're trying to go for distance beyond that. Distance you knock the clown is multiplied at the end of each round by how many things you've knocked him against (total) in the game. We've got a lot of big plans including mini-games within the app, a soundboard and game center (which was this close >< but we removed it at the last minute because we hadn't tested it enough) -- GC will be the first update and we'll be sending it to Apple very soon. Anyway, we had a great time making it and hopefully people will have a great time playing it. It's just a buck for iPad and iPhone, though we did target 3GS (armv7) and up to get within that magic 20mb download size. I'd love to hear some thoughts and feedback from people regarding the game. Thanks! Early impressions are that this is a really polished RPG with fun battle mechanics and environmental puzzles. One of the better RPGs I've played on iOS lately (and iOS native too). Recommended. Controls:Options for either floating virtual joystick or touch screen combined with one button that lights Read More
Read More
If you’re a small band looking to get some attention, what better idea than releasing a music video featuring some of the most popular games for iPhone? Australian band Hey Geronimo understands that shooting a video featuring some of our favorite games, namely Plants vs. Zombies, Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, Flight Control, and Fruit Ninja, is always a sure hit with iOS geeks like us, especially when you bring those games to life… The music is actually pretty good, too! If you like it, you can get it from iTunes here. What do you think? Read More
Guys, Christmas is right around the corner. Real Racing creators Firemint delicately reminded us of that we're zeroing in on the holiest of holidays with one well-positioned holiday-themed update to its awesome puzzle game, [$.99 / HD]. Starting now with an update, World 1 in Spy Mouse and Spy Mouse HD have been turned into winter-y paradises, complete with snow, candy canes, and other decorations. The team has also turned the game's icon on its head with a bit of Christmas cheer and even added a new challenge to Agent Squeak's backpack. [$.99 / Lite] for the iPhone and iPod Touch have also been updated, though not with anything Christmas-related. These two versions now have a new level featuring a vicious thunderstorm with lightning that can damage your planes. The HD version [$4.99], on the other hand, now rocks a "Moon Base" map with asteroids and four new vehicles: land shuttles, satellites, rockets, and UFOs. Interestingly, all three versions of Flight Control now have a "rewind" feature, which allows you to, er, rewind time in order to, say, avoid a collision. The catch? They need to be purchased. #4 Today, 04:21 AM Junior Member iPhone 4, OS 4.x Join Date: Jun 2011 Posts: 8 Quote: Jup the controls are the same but we filled it up with some tricky puzzling. In order to master a level with 3 stars you have to find the right way through each level. Pick up all presents, avoid the traps and don't loose any presents. Do you have what it takes? #12 11-28-2011, 09:14 PM Member Join Date: Dec 2010 Posts: 84 This game has a huge bug: All the freemium stuff (gold, tickets, etc) can be had for free in unlimited quantities. When you go to buy gold or whatever, just input a negative number in the quantity section. The game gives you the items cost. Input a quantity of -1000, and you've got unlimited gold. Thanks for sharing Echoseven - I hope you enjoyed the game so far. Just wanted to share the latest trailer: Cheers, Morten -Egg Punch Game designer #3 Yesterday, 10:06 PM Senior Member iPad, OS 4.x Join Date: Oct 2009 Posts: 4,431 I'm surprised this one is not getting more attention, in my personal opinion is what "Mirror's Edge" should be...Pure Joy!
