Jack Frost is nipping, holiday cheer is in the air, and the oldies stations are playing non-stop Christmas classics – it’s the most wonderful time of the year and if that means the same for you as it does for us… you’re stressed out. Whether it’s last minute shopping, ways to simplify travel, or trying to channel that sometimes elusive festive spirit, skip the mall and head to the Android Market this week. If a flyswatter app isn’t enough to squash any bah-humbugs running around, try these 10 Apps for the Holidays. They’re sure to have you feeling jollier in no time. 1. ADW Theme Tron Legacy Pro

| €0.93 | Mariux
Posted by Comments One of the big pluses of having an Android is the ability to customize and change the way your device looks and feels. Subsequently, the Android Market has lots of apps to choose from which help you do just that. Now, obviously customization is very much down to personal taste but there’s one particular theme which has stood out for me recently, and that is the futuristic ‘Glow Legacy’ by developer Mariux. I should mention it comes in a few different colors (yellow, red, green and blue), but I have used the blue one for the purpose of this review. We’ve included convenient tools to easily download the recommended apps! 1. . Glow Legacy is essentially a theme that can be applied to your launcher. I use ADW Launcher EX, but you can also get Glow Legacy for both GO Launcher EX and Launcher Pro. It harbours a wide collection of app icons, so your homes screens should look cohesive even with lots of shortcuts. If you are using GO Launcher EX, there are also Glow Legacy skins for the GO SMS and GO Contacts apps too. 2. . To compliment that theme, you can also get a Glow Legacy Clock widget. Not wholly dissimilar to the new Ice Cream Sandwich generic clock you might have seen, it really works well with the main theme and looks very cool. It’s worth noting too that with ADW Launcher Ex and Launcher Pro you can resize the widget too. 3. . Add to this these beautiful glowing widgets and you’re really starting to get a comprehensive experience of Glow Legacy. You get six widgets in this pack including; Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Synchronization, GPS, Brightness and Ringer. These are stand-alone widgets so you don’t need a specific launcher, but they look great wherever you put them. 4. Read More

Lockscreen Calendar

| FREE | j4velin
Posted by Comments . See your upcoming calendar events directly on the lockscreen! Works on every lockscreen, that normally displays the next upcoming alarm. Price: Free Content Rating: Everyone Pros Cons When you first start the app, it quickly walks you through setup, selecting which calendars you’d like to pull from, how often it will check for updates, etc. Personally, I have it pull from a select set of my calendars, and I have the next two events listed, so I can see, at a glance, what’s coming up shortly without even having to go into my device. Because it syncs with your calendars, once you do the initial setup, you never have to think about it ever again. The calendar entry exists right below your next alarm. This app is such an essential that it should be apart of the Android operating system. Unfortunately this app may not work for default Samsung Galaxy SII and HTC Sense phones. And according to the developer, you need to press “update” at least once to make the app load your calendar and set the text on the lockscreen. If you’re the type of person who is constantly checking your schedule, this is a great app. It lets you see at a quick glance without even having to unlock the phone what’s coming up. This is a “set it and forget it” app. It walks you through the initial setup and settings, so you can quickly get it set to work exactly the way you want. To adjust settings, just open the app again and run through the setup again. Every time you go to unlock your device, you’ll have your schedule right there for a quick glance, meaning you’ll use it all day every day. The actual app interface is very easy to use, and very Read More
