All three of the iPhone apps on today’s list are available for free for their first time ever.  Doesn’t that make you feel at least a little special? Battle for Cydonia ($4.99 -> Free): An action adventure game set in the future where you control the powerful Datalus-5. The game is a multi-touch shooter where you control Datalus-5, a massive mech warrior armed to the teeth.  Your goal is to ward off the numerous enemies that are attacking via land and air.  Tapping and holding on a portion of the screen will fire in that direction, and since Datalus-5 is armed with a weapon on each arm, you can fire in multiple directions to keep the enemies at bay. The game features three levels of difficulty, two modes of play including survival, the ability to upgrade your mech, and OpenFeint integration. Battle for Cydonia is available for free today only (5/27). Kiwitiki ($3.99 -> Free): An adorable and stress-free platformer. Kiwitiki loves flowers, and you must help him collect as many flowers in each level as possible.  The game doesn’t contain a timer or any enemies, but you are tasked with collecting as many flowers as possible in order to obtain the highest combo and the best score.  You can take different paths to accomplish this and search for secret areas. Kiwitiki is available for free for an undisclosed amount of time.  You know the drill right?  Waiting is bad! Tweeterena Pro ($.99 -> Free): A colorful Twitter client that’s loaded with features. In order to compete with the likes of the official Twitter app, many third-party developers have resorted to marking down their offerings and Tweeterena Pro is part of that group.  But that doesn’t make it any less worthy.  The app is loaded with features, including multiple account support, Facebook integration, custom backgrounds, themes, lists, tons of different image uploading services, landscape support, and much more. Tweeterena Pro is free for an undisclosed amount of time as well, but don’t be surprised if it remains free for quite a while. Previously known as Tweetie, Twitter for iPhone [Free - iTunes link] is the official Twitter application from Twitter. It is full featured and easy to use. Swiping a tweet will get you reply options, and tapping the tweet will allow you to view attached photos or url’s. The swipe to reply seems so natural, and it’s uncluttered. Likewise with Tweetie’s settings – you know exactly what you’re looking at and what will happen if you turn something OFF or ON. — Alli If you’re looking for a Twitter client with fast and reliable push, Twitbit [$2.99 - iTunes link] is the app for you. However, an excellent push notification system isn’t the only thing appealing about Twitbit. The UI is very clean and clutter free. On the bottom toolbar, you will find tabs for your timeline, mentions, messages, lists, and more. Twitbit comes with 4 themes: Gradients, Dark, Plain, and Chat. The two main complaints about Twitbit is the lack of “quick reply” from the timeline and no option to “reply all”. The most impressive feature is how quickly notifications are pushed to your iPhone. Notifications are received within seconds of them being sent. November 15, 2009 by Robb     iPhone App Review: Tweeterena Christmas Edition Reviewed by: Robb Lewis - AppStore Link Price: $1.99 This week was definitely a good week for making me feel Christmassy. Yesterday, I saw the Coca Cola advert, which as everyone knows, indicates the start of Christmas. And Tweeterena Christmas Edition was released. To start this review, I will ignore the Christmas aspect of the app and look at the core features. Tweeterena has all the features you would expect from a Twitter app including timeline, @replies, DMs, Photo and Video (3GS only) upload and support for drafts. Tweeterena is simple to use with all of the different sections navigated to with the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen. Refreshing your timeline is as simple as pressing the refresh button at the top of the screen and turning on magic scroll will take you automatically to the earliest unread tweet. Unread tweets are highlighted to make sure you don’t miss anything important. You can also customise the background when tweeting which is a nice feature to have if you like the theme but don’t like to have an image whilst typing. Which bring me nicely onto the Christmas aspects of this app. The first thing you will notice in Tweeterena Christmas Edition is the Christmas sounds when it starts up, as well as once it has loaded new tweets. Tweeterena also has four beautiful themes to choose from (nativity is my personal favourite) so you can change the entire look of the app. The themes are polished and it shows a great amount of effort on the developers part. Another special feature is a Christmas soundboard, accessed by pressing the ‘treat’ button. There are nine sounds to play here including fireworks and santa. I could play with this part of the app for hours without even checking my Twitter feed. Tweeterena Christmas Edition is a fantastic addition to the suite of Tweeterena apps and is fantastic app for anyone who loves Christmas (who doesn’t?). I would also like to mention that the developer of this app, Andrew Weekes, is one of the most helpful developers I have dealt with and he is a credit to the developer community.
