06/15/2010 More options for getting Flash on the iOS, by Touch My Apps

With all of the Apple vs Adobe “friendly” exchanges these last few months, it’s virtually a certainty Flash will never find a true home on the iOS. Or will it? More and more developers are taking upon themselves to offer solutions to have at least some way of having the heavily sought technology on your iDevice. We have already reported Cloud Browse – a virtual browser on a remote server, streamed right to your iPhone and Smokescreen – a Javascript Flash recompiler. And just recently two more projects have surfaced on the web. One is proof of concept, made by Artefact group and is sort of a cross between the two ways of getting Flash, reported earlier. It uses a Javascript plugin for Safari to stream input to a remote server with a Flash-enabled browser and returns the result, overlaying it on top of the page. At the moment it uses static images, limiting the framerate to about 15 images per second max and no sound. In future they plan to switch to H.264 to deliver a much better and more fluid experience. This solution combines the integration into Safari, offered by the Smokescreen one at the same time allowing to go easy on the hardware requirements. And what’s more, with only minor changes in realization, other stuff like Silverlight and Unity3D can easily find their way to the iOS as well. The other solution is offered, or, rather, will be offered, by Comex – one of the authors of the Spirit jailbreak. Not much is known about it, save for a video he put out on Youtube (with quite poor image quality). But given his track record this may be one of the better solutions, if he manages to get it to work that is. Read More

06/14/2010 Real Flash on the iPhone! [VIDEO], by ModMyi.com

Comex, the developer behind the latest and most compatible jailbreak to date, Spirit, recently tweeted a video of an iPhone that is apparently playing REAL Adobe Flash content at full speed. He states in the video description that it is "very preliminary," as can be seen by the minor graphical glitches on the screen, but the fact is that it seems to be opening and executing Flash content just fine. No other information has been unveiled yet; it is unknown if this project is to be eventually worked into Safari as its own plugin or if it will have to stay as a standalone app. Apple's distaste with Flash has led quite a few developers to work on their own workarounds to get Flash content working on the iPhone. Some of the most notable include iMobileCinema, a Safari plugin that has been around for a while that attempts to play video content embedded in Flash, Gordon and Smokescreen, two Flash interpreters written entirely in Javascript (which iOS and MobileSafari handle just fine, if slowly), and Flash In A Pinch and CloudBrowse, which actually render Flash content on a remote server, then stream down the images (and sound in the case of CloudBrowse) of the webpage to your iDevice. However, none of these workarounds could really be considered a "Flash player" considering the limitations that each solution has in place. This project, should it come to fruition, would be the first real Flash player for iPhone, and comex has already proven his skill by releasing the first ever untethered 3G S/G3 iTouch jailbreak. Follow comex on Twitter, and check back to this thread for any future updates on the project. A) need clarity on a proof of concept that is barely usable B) or need any other proof then that from a person who bought u a jailbreak Originally Posted by What malware. 05/26/2010 You really CAN HAZ flash on your iDevice!, by ModMyi.com

Developer Lida Tang from Boston has found a solution for flash on Apple devices. It's quite ingenious actually considering Steve Jobs' disdain for flash. This app is called Cloud Browse and has been available in the App Store for several weeks now with more than 150,000 downloads. When you browse to a website within the app there is actually a third party server accessing the site and streaming the content back to your iPhone! The frame rate is a bit slow but usable.. and there's even audio. A premium beta is in the works that will speed up the frame rate but is reported will cost $9.99 monthly. The one site that does NOT work is Hulu as they actively block access. I have gone to a few sites and it works pretty well. Read More

05/11/2010 Flash-Enabled Cloud Browser Is Back On The Store, by Apple iPhone Apps

A short note to notify you all that the clever Cloud Browse app fixed its issues and is now back on the store. Cloud Browse is a clever app that employs the use of remotely streaming a desktop browser to your device. This remote computer is fully flash and java enabled allowing you the access and opportunity to view the web like you would on your desktop computer. You have full multitouch pinch capabilities to zoom in and out of sites as well as flick scrolling as you would with mobile Safari. The only difference is you now have that coveted access to flash enabled sites to view animation and play games. I just gave it another run and while neither video streaming or the interface is what I would call “smooth”, it’s still a very neat app. Also it’s totally free, so go grab it now. Read More

04/15/2010 Access Flash Sites With Cloud Browse, by Apple iPhone Apps

While all of the love in the third party browser world has been going to Opera’s Mini browser, another free browser in the app store is helping to solve a dilemma plaguing all of us using an iDevice. Developer AlwaysOn Technologies has managed to do the unthinkable: bring Flash to the browsing experience on the iPhone OS with Cloud Browse. While the idea of being able to browse the complete web is pretty cool, the experience may prove to be a little frustrating. The app has gained in popularity due to its unique functions and as a result, accessing Cloud Browse’s browser may result in many timed out connections. During my time with the app, I had to restart the app several times on many occasions to finally connect. The developer’s site does acknowledge the issues that users may be experiencing and indicate they are working on it. The other issue is Apple. How long before Cupertino yanks this access after the very public spat with allowing flash on its device? Either way, you can see for yourself how well the app works. It’s currently residing on the App Store completely free to download. Give it a whirl and see what browsing the full web is like on your iPhone. Read More

04/15/2010 FarmVille iPhone Using Cloud Browse: Flash iPhone For FREE For Real!, by The App Era

April 15th, 2010 Daniel Silva This is not a drill. I repeat, THIS IS NOT A DRILL. Want Flash on your iPhone or iPad? You got it. A new app called Cloud Browse (FREE) let’s you do just that. Be quick as it’s about to be pulled. Check out Farmville iPhone: No, it doesn’t install Flash on the actual iPhone. It connects to a separate machine (operated by them not you). The result? A slightly slow, yet genuine (technically) Flash on your iDevice. What’s better? IT’S FREE! Yep, it’s free. The bad news? The developers are having a high demand of users, more than expected, and will be pulling the app from the AppStore TONIGHT. So make sure to download, right now! Like I said above, it’s a bit slow, considering this is basically Firefox through VNC (though a bit faster than typical VNC) but it works out OK, I guess. It’s more of a cool concept than actual solution, but hey. And now, some pictures to make you jealous. Namaste. You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site. Read More
